Striking Out Stigma🧡
Diabetes Week 2026 focuses on changing the way we think and talk about diabetes.
Research shows that 8 out of 10 people living with diabetes experience stigma, including judgement, blame, and misconceptions about their condition. This stigma can affect emotional wellbeing and make it harder for individuals to manage their health.
It’s important to understand:
- Diabetes is not a choice
- It is not caused by personal failure
- Everyone deserves support and understanding
This year’s theme, ‘Strike Out Stigma’, aims to challenge negative attitudes and encourage more compassionate, informed conversations about diabetes.
By improving awareness and reducing stigma, we can support people living with diabetes to feel respected, confident, and empowered in managing their condition.
