We know that having a tests at the hospital can be very stressful. It is our practice policy not to prescribing sedatives before hospital camera tests and scans (like MRI or CT scans).
There are many reasons for this, but we would like to keep you as safe as we possibly can.
The hospital team will be able to prescribe and oversee the right sedation for you and have the correct qualifications to do this. There may be a contact number for your consultant on any recent letters you may have from them; alternatively, you can contact the relevant hospital via the switchboard numbers below:
Stepping Hill Hospital 0161 483 1010

You can find more information in the Royal College of Radiologists’ guidance on sedation, analgesia and anaesthesia, which explains the rationale for our approach in general practice.
